The Lost Loop (Reverse)

The lost loop ride
Overview
This is a great trail, an out and back along the Chifwema Road with a lovely single track loop that has some of the best track in this area. Nothing too difficult technically, some great downhills and rolling track and the loop can be done either way. The route attached is a reverse of our more regular rides here, starting the loop first means a tough climb out at the end. It can get a tad overgrown in the rainy season but not hard to find the way.

Route of the 2012 Mulungushi Dam MTB Race

Overview
This route was the 44km race route of the 2012 Mulungushi Dam Race. It was a FANTASTIC trail with all the terrain Zambia can offer, great forest single track, flat fast bush trails, river crossings and the rest! The start and finish are from the Mulungushi Dam Boat Club – they have a beautiful spot on the waters edge with private and rented accommodation available…

Abandoned Rose Farm Loop

Overview
Relive the glory years of the rose boom with this easy / moderate trail that winds its way through the LH Forest Reserve and round the back of State Lodge via an abandoned flower farm complex. Some easy trails, the odd stream and gate and a couple of decent hills make this a varied but enjoyable challenge with less climbing that the routes that drop off the escarpment down the Chifwema Road. Terrain is mixed single track, jeep track, dirt road and farm tracks with a short spell along the powerlines.

Apocalyptic Church Loop

Overview
This a not too taxing and very pleasurable route that has some good descent and climbing but above all has some GREAT and varied single track. It is not too technical though there are a few sections where most riders will want to walk, a few streams to cool off in and plenty of villagers to encourage you en route! The name comes from a new and quite fancy Apostolic Church that you will pass on the descent and re-ascent!

Polocrosse MTB Circuit 1

Overview
This was the first mountain bike ride I did in Zambia and it was tough! There are 20% uphill sections which most people will have to walk. It is absolutely fabulous countryside though with great views and variation (uphill, downhill, stream crossings etc). Take at least 2 litres of water with you (I consumed 3) and an energy snack or two. Next time I do this I will start out early, take a picnic and make a day of it.
